Glean is a skincare brand rooted in ancient Somali beauty rituals, bringing nature-based solutions to modern routines. I provided a comprehensive content creation package to elevate the brand’s digital storytelling and deepen audience engagement. Our goal was to honor the tradition of Qasil while appealing to a contemporary audience. From brand storytelling and product photography, my work emphasized Glean’s focus on ritual, sustainability, and community.

CONTENT THAT'S CUTE.

Glean Qasil’s hero ingredient—qasil—is unfamiliar to many Western consumers, despite its long-standing history in Somali skincare rituals. To bridge that gap, I led with educational content that:

  • Demonstrated how to use the products, including mixing, application, and skincare routines

  • Shared the cultural and botanical significance of qasil in an accessible, story-forward way

  • Empowered consumers to feel confident using powdered skincare, which can be intimidating compared to mainstream liquid or cream formats

By blending instructional visuals with cultural storytelling, I positioned Glean as both a trusted authority and a brand deeply rooted in tradition. This approach helped us build brand trust, reduce barriers to purchase, and increase shareability—especially for new-to-qasil audiences.

COMMUNITY-FOCUSED 

STREET INTERVIEWS

To bring real voices into the conversation, I conducted street-style interviews with everyday people to explore their skincare routines, thoughts on natural beauty, and first impressions of qasil. This content helped:

  • Spark curiosity and relatability by showing genuine, unscripted reactions

  • Introduce Glean to new audiences in a low-pressure, conversational format

This series humanized the brand, created community-driven dialogue, and gave us authentic, shareable content.
